ROCHESTER -- A memorial service for Fred "Fritz" Ganz will 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Christ in Marion, with Dennis Ganz officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
Mr. Ganz, 88, of Little Canada, Minn., formerly of Rochester, died Tuesday (April 2,2002) at Rose of Sharon Manor in Roseville, Minn.
He was born Jan. 11, 1914, in Clear Lake, Wis. On June 16, 1935, he married Margery Irene Predmore at the Church of Christ in Marion. He operated road construction equipment for a number of companies in southern Minnesota. He spent the summer of 1942 working on the Alcan Highway. Mr. Ganz was co-owner of Westrum &; Ganz Construction Co. before his retirement in 1979, and was a motor grader operator for Olmsted County. He was a woodworking enthusiast. He was a charter member of Meadow Park Church of Christ in Rochester, was a founding member and treasurer of the Minnesota Evangelizing Association, and served as an elder and Bible class teacher for the Church of Christ in Marion, Rochester and Nevis, Minn. He was a member of the Olmsted County District 4 School Board in Marion.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis (Sharon) of Fertile, Iowa, and Bob (Diane) of Phoenix; three daughters, Gwen (Don) Riggin of Milbank, S.D., Kathleen (Hank) Termeer of Powell, Ohio, and Joyce (Joe) Krzystofiak of Shoreview, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Henry (Gene) of Rochester and Bill (Bettye) of Fort Pierce, Fla. He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from noon until the time of the service Saturday at the church.
