A party Thursday in Rochester will raise money to send immigrant workers and their supporters to Washington, D.C., and New York in September on the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride.
The fund-raising event will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 1804 Seventh St. N.E. There will be live music, refreshments and appetizers.
A donation of $20 is recommended. Donations are tax-deductible.
The Freedom Ride is an effort to lobby for immigrant workers' rights and citizenship. Buses from nine major cities in the country, including Minneapolis, will take the Freedom Riders to the Capitol in September to meet with members of Congress and to New York in early October for a rally.
