Aug. 8: The Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota will have the Annual Stroll for Epilepsy in Rochester. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. at Silver Lake Park. Aug. 9: The Fifth Annual Century Panther Hockey Golf Tournament will be at Willow Creek Golf Course in Rochester. The format is a four-person scramble. Registration begins at 11 a.m., shotgun start at noon. The fee of $75 includes 18 holes of golf with cart, dinner, T-shirt and prizes. There will be awards for first-, second- and third-place teams. Proceeds benefit the Century Panthers hockey team.

Aug. 10: The second annual Lake City Medical Center Benefit Golf Tournament will be at the Lake City Country Club. Funds will go toward the Gary R. Feigal, M.D., Interfaith Center on the campus of Lake City Medical Center. This is a nine-hole best-shot/four-person tournament. Registration begins at 2 p.m., tee time is 3 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. Registration deadline was July 22.

Aug. 17: The fourth annual Big Jim Classic golf event will be at Oaks Golf and Supper Club near Hayfield. It will be four-man best ball. Check in at 11 a.m., shotgun start at noon, chicken dinner served from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cost is $50 per person and includes 18 holes, golf cart, two beverages and bratwursts. Proceeds will be given to Rochester Hope Lodge. For more information, call (507) 477-3233.

Aug. 24: An event to raise money for RAINN, the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the West Silver Lake Pavilion in Rochester. RAINN is a 24-hour hotline with trained counselors to help rape and abuse victims. There will be food, games and door prizes. Cost is $10 per person. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Sept. 21: The Kasson-Mantorville Activities Department's Annual K-M Challenge Fund Golf Tournament will be at the Zumbro Valley Recreation Club. Funds raised will be used to support K-M co-curricular athletics and fine arts program. It will be a nine-hole best-ball tournament. Golf and a steak meal are included in the registration fee of $25 per person. Shotgun start at 2 p.m., steak dinner served at 5 p.m. The tournament is limited to the first 20 teams to register. Fund-raising programs

Running Start for School, a back-to-school drive sponsored by the United Way of Olmsted County, Rochester Community Ed and Child Care Resource &; Referral, is accepting donations of schools supplies and cash for the 2002-03 school year. For a list of supplies needed, call 287-2004 or go to the United Way Web site at www.uwolmsted.org. This volunteer effort is to help families who find equipping their children with school supplies too great a financial burden, and it helps ensure that all children start the school year with the tools to learn. Donations may be dropped off at the United Way of Olmsted County, Hunt Drug or Northrop Community Education Center. Pickup is available for larger donations. Checks should be made out to Running Start For School, c/o Community Education, 201 Eighth St. N.W., Rochester, MN 55901.
