June 14: Southern Minnesota Volleyball 16 Elite Team is sponsoring a rummage/plant sale from 8 a.m. to noon at the National Volleyball Center in Rochester. Funds raised will be used for the team's upcoming trip to Phoenix. This Junior Olympic volleyball team is sponsored by Rochester Youth Volleyball Association and will be competing for four days against teams from across the nation at the USAV Invitational Tournament at the end of June. June 14: The Rushford-Peterson school fund-raising auction will be at 3 p.m. in the middle school gymnasium, in conjunction with Gammel Dag in Peterson. Donation days are today and Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Bring items to donate to the middle school. Consignments are also being taken for larger items. June 14: The fifth annual Rochester Area American Heart Walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Soldiers Field Park in Rochester. The event is a one- two- or three-mile walk featuring entertainment and health fair activities. The goal is to raise money for research, public and professional education, and community programs that help fight heart disease and stroke. Walkers will be eligible for prizes. Fund-raising programs

Brunch With a Naturalist will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first Sunday of the month through Sept. 7 at Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in Lanesboro. An optional bat presentation will be offered at noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. The menu includes carved ham and roast beef, made-to-order omelets, baked goods and pastries, salads and side dishes, potatoes and casseroles, and homemade desserts. Cost is $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and free for children younger than 5. Proceeds support Eagle Bluff. Reservations are recommended; call (507) 467-2437.


Catholic Charities in Rochester is looking for donations of gently used or new sheets sets and pillows (preferably new). To donate, fold and bundle together one bottom sheet, one top sheet and one pillow case (or two if a full size set). Tie the bundle with string or ribbon and label it with the size (twin, full, queen). Unmatched sets are acceptable as long as they're in good shape. The 2002-2003 "Spring into Science" campaign is under way at Rochester Catholic Schools through June 30. The Roosters Vintage Base Ball Club is selling prize tickets to raise money to repair Schmitt Field at the Olmsted County History Center. The field was dug up for the installation of a geothermal air-conditioning system at the center. Tickets are $1 and available at the History Center or from any Roosters player.
