Gary L. ‘Butch’ Forrester — Austin

AUSTIN — A memorial service for Gary L. "Butch" Forrester will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin; the Rev. Dr. Stephen DeFor will officiate. Interment will be a later date.

Mr. Forrester, 64, of Austin, died Sunday (April 13, 2008) at his home.

He was born June 16, 1943, in St. Paul. He lived in Spring Valley until age 9, when his family moved to Austin. He married Carol "Toots" Pieper on Nov. 28, 1964, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin.

The couple moved to Alexis, Ill., where he worked as a painter of fire trucks for five years. They returned to Austin in 1969.

Mr. Forrester worked in construction for many years and had been at Rofshus Precision Machine in Albert Lea for the past 14 years. He enjoyed motorcycling, camping, NASCAR racing, spending time with his family, and especially watching his son race motocross.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Todd (Janel Walker) of Park Rapids, Minn.; a daughter, Tracey (Steven) Maxfield of Austin; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Daniel (April) of Blooming Prairie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis "Bud" and Viola (Witte) Forrester; and an infant brother, Dennis.

Visitation will be an hour before the service at Worlein Funeral Home.

Memorials are preferred to the family.
