ELBA -- A private family service for Gene L. Turner will be at Hoff Funeral Home-St. Charles Chapel. Cremation will follow.
Mr. Turner, 61, of La Crescent, formerly of Elba, died Saturday (Feb. 5, 2005) at La Crescent Healthcare Center.
He was born June 4, 1943, in Wabasha County and attended Lake City public schools. He later moved to Elba with his family. Mr. Turner worked for Jewel Nursery in Lake City and for Hubbard Turkey Plant in Altura for many years. In 2003, he moved to Mosher Veterans Home in Dresbach. For the past month, he lived at La Crescent Healthcare Center.
Survivors include his step-mother, Selma Turner of Elba; a sister, Vivian (Elmo) Reineccius of Lake City; two half-sisters, Lana (Rich) Lange of St. Charles and Gert (Dick) Wilson of Boy River, Minn.; and two stepbrothers, Don Brunner of Spokane, Wash., and Al Brunner of Glenwood Springs, Colo. One sister, one half-sister and one stepbrother preceded him in death.
