Gene Paul Arthur — Plainview

PLAINVIEW — Gene Paul Arthur, 50, of Plainview, died Thursday (Nov. 13, 2008) at his home.

He was born June 13, 1958, in Oelwein, Iowa, and attended West Central Community School in Maynard, Iowa, graduating in 1976. On Aug. 16, 1980, he married Deb Trusty in Maynard. They were later divorced. In 1982 Mr. Arthur moved to Plainview. He was previously employed by auto dealerships in Rochester, Adamson Motors, Oronoco Auto Parts, Domaille Buick, and Park Place Motor Cars. For the past two years he was employed by Mayo Clinic as a lab assistant. He was a former member of 4-H and FFA, was currently a member of the NRA and American Hunting Club, and enjoyed hunting and fishing, farming, and showing cattle.

Survivors include a daughter, Kristin (J.C.) Dickinson of Plainview; a granddaughter, Abigail; five sisters, Lois (Bob) Eggerth of Swea City, Iowa, Betty (Ernie) Cox of Prescott, Ariz., Joyce Geistkemper of Fayette, Iowa, Eileen Arthur of Oelwein and Eleanor (Jim) Hageman of Calmar, Iowa; and four brothers, Vernon (Jo) of Waverly, Iowa, Rodney (Becky) of Loveland, Colo., Myron (Jan) of Maynard and Jerry (Florida) of Norwalk, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Donna (Meyer) Arthur.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel, with a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. The Rev. David Frederickson will officiate the service.

Funeral services in Iowa will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Maynard. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, 160 Main St., in Maynard, and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
