George Hauber -- Cresco, Iowa

CRESCO, Iowa -- The funeral for George Hauber will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Notre Dame Parish-St. Joseph's Worship Center in Cresco. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco.

Mr. Hauber, 87, of Cresco, died Saturday (April 23, 2005) at Cresco Care Center.

He was born July 22, 1917, in Winneshiek County, near Calmar, Iowa. On Nov. 14, 1950, he married Emma Slifka in Cresco; they farmed in Winneshiek County until they retired and moved to Cresco in 1996.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Hauber of Kasson, Christine (Scott) Sheldon of Sidney, Iowa, and Rose Hauber of Lafayette, Colo.; six grandchildren; four great-grandsons; and five sisters, June Ryan and Marian Haskovec, both of Cresco, Rose Ryan of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Betty Sexton of Marion, Iowa, and Norma Smith of Huntington, W.V. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter and one brother.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Conway Funeral Home in Cresco and for one hour before the service Tuesday at the church. There will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 p.m. today.
