George W. Knowlton -- Eyota

EYOTA -- A funeral Mass for George W. Knowlton will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota, with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will be in St. Felix Cemetery in Wabasha.

Mr. Knowlton, 91, a longtime Eyota resident, died Saturday (Oct. 16, 2004) at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where he had lived since July.

He was born Aug. 6, 1913, near Ripon, Wis. He married Dorothy Stewart in 1934 and they were later divorced. In 1952, he married Cecelia "Cel" Foley, and she preceded him in death in 1983. Mr. Knowlton lived in Rochester, later Owatonna and again in Rochester for a few years before moving to Eyota in 1965. He drove for Rock Island Bus Line for a number of years and was transportation supervisor for the Dover-Eyota school district for more than 30 years. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota.

Survivors include five daughters, Darlene (Russ) McRoberts of Fergus Falls, Minn., Nancy (Mark) Ihrke of Garner, Iowa, Mary Lynn (Chris) Regnier of Hugo, Minn., Darla (Tony) Pavlisich of Spring Valley and Linda (Tony) Nelson of Eyota; three sons, Tom of Rochester, Jerry (Marlis) of Eyota and Paul (Tina) of Superior, Wis.; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Hobart of Osseo, Wis. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, five brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Schad &; Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota.
