ROCHESTER -- A funeral Mass for George W. Schroeder will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of St. Bartholomew in Wayzata, Minn. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Mr. Schroeder, 81, of New Hope, Minn., formerly of Rochester, died Sunday (May 11, 2003) at St. Therese Nursing Home in New Hope.
He was born May 31, 1921, in Emery, S.D. Mr. Schroeder lived in Rochester and Redwood Falls, Minn., before moving to the Twin Cities. During World War II he was a captain in the Army and received the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Harriet; two sons, Mike of Lexington, Mass., and John (Tina) of Byron Center, Mich.; two daughters, Susan (Roger) Herlacher of Yucca Valley, Calif., and Marijane (David) Hauer of Plymouth, Minn.; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call an hour before the service Friday at the church.
