Gertrude C. Drake -- Lake City

LAKE CITY -- The funeral for Gertrude C. Drake will be 10 a.m. Friday at Lake City Nursing Home, with the Rev. Gary Benson officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Mrs. Drake, 86, of Lake City, formerly of Rochester, died Tuesday (Jan. 15, 2002) at Lake City Nursing Home.

Gertrude C. Olson was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Van Hook, N.D., and grew up there. On Nov. 12, 1938, she married Alvin "Bob" Drake. They owned and operated a grocery store in Rochester and also a business called The Gardens for many years. After moving to Lake City in 1958, they owned the Dairy Queen in Wabasha and Bob and Gert's Liquor Store in Lake City until their retirement. Mrs. Drake also did catering for weddings and graduations. Her husband died May 8, 1992. She was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester, a past president of the Rochester Does and a past noble grand of Rochester Rebekah Lodge 10.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara (Robert) Moody of Tacoma, Wash.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte Phelps of Brainerd, Minn. A sister preceded her in death.

Friends may call an hour before the service Friday at the nursing home.
