WINONA 2, CENTURY 0
Panthers winless at break
The score was close Thursday night against Winona, but the Rochester Century girls hockey team is still looking for its first Big Nine Conference win.
Winona scored two goals in the second period, and that held up for a 2-0 Winhawks win at the Rochester Recreation Center.
Century’s record dipped to 0-14 entering the holiday break. Century’s next game is in the Sertoma Shootout tournament in Kasson next Thursday, Dec. 27.

Winona got both scores on power play goals by Emily Wychgram. Earyn Cooper and Oliva Eckhoff both had assists on the scores.
Winona kept Century goalkeeper Liz Maidl occupied with 56 shots on goal. Century had only two shots on the Winhawks’ net.
"Liz played very well, but otherwise we had a rough night," said Century coach Dan Maidl. "We didn’t skate all that well tonight. There’s a lot to work on yet. We’re still young and inexperienced; it will come."
Century meets Winona again in the first round of the Sertoma Shootout at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in Kasson.
