Glenn Walter Erstad -- Austin

AUSTIN -- The funeral for Glenn Walter Erstad was Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, S.D., with the Rev. Don Lehmann officiating. Burial was in West Sinai Lutheran Cemetery in Sinai, S.D.

Mr. Erstad, 71, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Austin, died Thursday (Aug. 1, 2002).

Born Aug. 10, 1930, in Arlington, S.D., he grew up in the Sinai area and after graduating from Sinai High School in 1948 farmed with his brother. He later worked at Erstad Implement in Bryant, S.D., and from Jan. 16, 1952, to July 25, 1952, served in the Army. On Oct. 5, 1952, he married Evelyn Beyer in Madison, S.D. Mr. Erstad was a locomotive engineer for the Milwaukee Railroad for 32 years in Madison, S.D., and Austin. He moved to Sioux Falls following retirement in 1986.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gregory (Barbara) and Jerry (Joyce), both of Austin; two daughters, Barbara Richardson of Madison, S.D., and Kim (Robert) Carlson of Richfield, Minn.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Running of Torrence, Calif., Ruth Kasperson of Geneva, Ill., Marion Pasko of Orange City, Calif., and Dorothy Lewis of Sioux Falls; and two brothers, Gordon of Bryant, S.D., and Richard of Sun City, Ariz. Two brothers preceded him in death.

George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls is in charge of arrangements.
