Transit users and others who regularly travel through the Destination Medical Center district are being sought as co-designers of planned rapid transit stations.

The city is in the process of seeking federal funds for the rapid transit line proposed along Second Street from the current Mayo Clinic west parking lot to the Mayo Civic Center, where it will loop around the Government Center before returning west.

The route will include dedicated stops with stations along the route, and the city and DMC Economic Development Agency are seeking applicants to work with project staff to co-create the design for the stations.

Co-designers will offer the project team insights from their own experiences and those of their diverse communities to create station designs that reflect the values of and incorporate feedback from the Rochester community.

Participants who are selected will be compensated for their time and some eligible expenses, such as child care. The expected time commitment is 25 to 30 hours between September and June 2021.
