INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minn. -- A group has asked for court action to once again prohibit the use of snowmobiles in 11 bays within Voyageurs National Park.
The Voyageurs Regional National Park Association filed for a federal court injunction on Friday to close the bays to human use until a judge can hear a lawsuit filed on the issue last year.
The lawsuit was filed after the National Park Service failed to close the bays to humans late last November.
The bays are on Rainy, Kabetogama, Namakan and Sand Point lakes. They were reopened to snowmobiling and other human activity after being closed for nearly 10 years.
