Gunda Stordahl -- Dennison

KENYON -- The funeral for Gunda Stordahl will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Vang Lutheran Church in rural Dennison, with the Rev. Kenneth Lahners officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Stordahl, 98, of Dennison, died Monday (July 31, 2006) at the Kenyon Sunset Home, where she had been a resident for three years.

Gunda Lenora Engseth was born June 10, 1908, in Warsaw Township, Goodhue County. She attended grade school in Dennison and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1927. In April 1932, she married Malder Stordahl at the Vang Church parsonage. They moved to Owatonna and operated a gas station. After her husband's death in 1937, she moved back to Dennison with her children and helped on the farm and helped neighbors. She worked at Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., for eight years in the kitchen. After retiring, she worked for Senora Vessedahl until moving to Northfield Manor. She liked to crochet and visit with family and friends, and she was a Twins fan.

Survivors include a son, Jon (Menetta) of Dennison; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by infant twin daughters, a son, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Hanson Funeral Home in Kenyon and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.

Memorials are preferred to Vang Cemetery.
