Brazile sets earnings record
LAS VEGAS — Trevor Brazile set an all-around earnings record Monday with a first-place showing in team roping during the fifth round of the National Finals Rodeo.
Header Brazile, of Decatur, Texas, and heeler Patrick Smith of Midland, Texas, earned the top spot for the second straight round with a time of 4.6 seconds. They tied for first Sunday night at 4.0 seconds.
Brazile, in fourth place for headers, increased his first-place total in all-around (four events) this year to $342,263, which is $171,665 ahead of runner-up Josh Peek of Pueblo, Colo. He broke his own record of $329,924, set in 2006.
