Pittsburgh, with 100 points, is two ahead of the Canadiens in the race for top seed in the Eastern Conference. The Penguins have two games remaining, Montreal has three, and New Jersey four.

Rangers captain Jaromir Jagr has scored three times in five games after netting three in the previous 24. Jagr went 32 games since his previous power-play goal, also against Pittsburgh on Jan. 14. Monday night marked the first one he scored at home, a 2-1 overtime victory.

Atlanta’s Ilya Kovalchuk, who scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over Tampa Bay on Monday night, tied his career high with 52 and finished with 16 points (11 goals, five assists) in 15 games during March. He also has eight goals in the past seven games against the Lightning.

Phoenix signed top draft pick Kyle Turris to an entry level contract Monday. The 18-year-old center, the third overall selection in the 2007 draft, completed his freshman year at Wisconsin, where he was the leading scorer with 11 goals and 25 assists with 38 penalty minutes in 36 games.
