Concert celebrates Veterans Day

Rochester Community Band will present a Veterans Day concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Charles Hill Theatre on the campus of Rochester Community & Technical College.

The "Celebrate Veterans Day" concert will feature the Rochester Area Girls Choir. Admission is free.

Photographic art topic of lecture

Rochester Friends of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts will host a lecture Nov. 20 at the Rochester Golf and Country Club, 3100 Country Club Road S.W.


Timothy G. Piotrowski will speak about "Studies From Life: Costume and Object Portraits."

After decades as a painter, Piotrowski has turned to photography in recent years. His lecture is a look at photographic art.

Coffee is served at 10 a.m., and the lecture is at 10:30 a.m. The public is welcome.

Museum shows quilt collection

WINONA — "A Cornucopia of Quilts" will be held Saturday through Nov. 30 at the Winona County Historical Society Museum, 160 Johnson St. in Winona.

The show features samples from the museum’s quilt collection, as well as quilts created by area quilters and heirloom quilts from local families.

Quilt-related gifts will be available.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students.


In addition, quilt appraiser Susan Bulawa will appraise quilts this weekend to determine value for family and future generations.

Trio plays ‘maverick chamber music’

ZUMBROTA — Orange Mighty Trio will play everything from roots music to classical pieces in a concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 23 at Crossings at Carnegie, 320 East Ave. in Zumbrota.

The three-piece band (bass, piano, violin) brings new and adventurous in music to the stage.

City Pages has called what Orange Mighty Trio’s does "maverick chamber music."
