Harold A. ‘Bud’ Jacobson — Hesper, Iowa

HESPER, Iowa — A memorial service for Harold A. "Bud" Jacobson was at 1:30 p.m. today at the Hesper Lutheran Church in Hesper, Iowa.

Mr. Jacobson, 72, of Decorah, Iowa, died Friday (April 4, 2008), following an accident.

Harold Allen Jacobson was born Dec. 12, 1935, in Bloomfield, Minn. He married Edna Sorenson on April 8, 1961, in rural Decorah at the Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church. He served in the Army, then was primarily a self-employed farmer, but also worked 15 years with Kenseth Plumbing and Heating and 17 years with Donaldson’s Inc.

In the past few years he had filled in as a substitute school bus driver and was employed by Kale Monroe.

Mr. Jacobson was a member of the Winneshiek Saddle Club and Hesper Lutheran Church. He enjoyed riding and training horses, television, reading, hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Cheryl (James) Nagel of Preston, Rhonda (Dean) Hovden and Kathryn (Joe) Elsbernd, both of Decorah, and Jody (David) Bohr of Calmar, Iowa; two sons, Terry and Harold Jr., both of Decorah; eight grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Monroe of Castalia, Iowa, Lois (Lyle) Johansen and Marge (James) Monroe, both of West Union, Iowa, and Judy (John) Hyman of Postville, Iowa; and two brothers, Gordon (Judy) of Clermont, Iowa, and Lavern "Buster" of West Union. He was preceded in death by two brothers.

In accordance with Mr. Jacobson’s wishes, his body was cremated.

Memorials may be directed to Hesper Lutheran Church.

The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa assisted with arrangements.
