RACINE — The funeral for Hazel E. Ehresman was at 11 a.m. today at Riverdale Christian Church in Riverdale, Neb. Burial was in Riverdale Cemetery.
Mrs. Ehresman, 94, of Riverdale, formerly a longtime resident of the Racine area, died Saturday (April 26, 2008) at St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Village in Kearney, Neb.
Hazel Robbins was born Jan. 7, 1914, in Miller, Neb., and graduated from Miller High School in 1931. On Feb. 10, 1932, she married Ross W. Ehresman in Miller. The couple farmed in the Miller area until October 1956, when the family moved to a farm near Racine. They farmed there until retiring in 1987. They moved to Riverdale in June, 1987.
While living in the Racine area, she was a member of Sumner Center United Methodist Church and later Pleasant Grove Christian Church near Stewartville. She enjoyed giving readings, writing poems, and stories from "Elizabeth’s Pen," as well as gardening, flowers, pastel painting, sewing and arts and crafts.
Survivors include a son, Charles of San Marcos, Texas; a daughter, Margaret Olson of Berwyn, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joy Rohde of Ozark, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 28, 2007, a great-grandson in infancy, and four brothers.
