WILLMAR, Minn. -- The University of Minnesota's Academic Health Center is looking for partners to develop a training center for health care professionals in southern Minnesota.
The selected site will become a hub for coordinating rural training opportunities, spurring interest in health care careers and helping rural towns retain health care professionals.
"We've got to get beyond the old models," said Dr. Frank Cerra, AHC's senior vice president for health sciences.
So far, Willmar, Marshall and Mankato have expressed interest.
University officials won't select a regional site until fall.
