The Everything Hobby shop closed its doors in Rochester at the end of April, though its Austin store remains open.

Owner Kevin Guy opened Everything Hobby in 2005 at 1306 Seventh St. NW in Rochester’s Northgate Shopping Center.

The shop caters to hobbyists with interests such as remote-control airplanes and cars, model trains, rockets and related hobbies.

Prior to opening the shop, Guy owned a raceway in Rochester where hobbyists would race remote-control vehicles.

In 2014, he opened a second Everything Hobby store in Austin at 107 Fourth Ave. NE, near the Paramount Theatre.

Guy recently announced on his store’s Facebook page that it has become too costly to operate the Rochester shop, so he consolidated the operation into the Austin location.

Biz buzz

Another round?

If the chatter is correct, another bar is brewing for downtown Rochester.

The buzz is that some familiar names are working on another night spot on a street already known for its watering holes.

We’ll keep an eye on this possible project for updates.
