After months of construction, a mental health complex is slated to open in northwest Rochester at the end of September.

PrairieCare Medical Group, a Twin Cities-based, physician-owned health group, is gearing up to open a 40,000-square-foot facility for patients on Sept. 30, according to the complex's medical director, Dr. Christopher Wall. A public open house is slated for Oct. 25.

The two-story complex at 5255 Members Parkway NW is located in the Think Bank corporate campus area, along West Circle Drive Northwest. It's based on a 3.5-acre chunk of land by Rochester's Lincolnshire Park.

This will serve as the new home for PrairieCare in the Med City. It opened its current location at 1620 Greenview Drive SW in 2014.

Wall expects the "pastoral" location to help create a calming, healing environment for PrairieCare clients.

The complex is set up to accommodate three child/adolescent treatment programs on the main floor with an adult treatment program, outpatient care and offices on the second floor. It will also feature a 3,500-square-foot public meeting space called the 4Giving Center that will be available for area non-profits to use for meetings and events.

PraireCare has a team of 40 based in Rochester. That number is expected to grow as the new complex gains ground.

This new site will help make Rochester into a southeastern Minnesota "hub" for PrairieCare, said Wall. The statewide practice also has a facility in Mankato and plans to add two more in area communities in the near future.
