A 19-year-old hotel in northwest Rochester sold for $3.45 million in late July.

Two firms — Rochester North Lodging Group LLC of Eden Prairie and Red Wing Lodging Group LLC of Red Wing — bought the 79-room Quality Inn hotel at 5708 Bandel Road NW on July 24.

The hotel has operated under the AmericInn and Comfort Inn brands before becoming a Quality Inn. It's not known if the new owners plan to change the brand again.

The two lodging groups purchased the three-story hotel from Krisam Corp. of Mounds View, Minn. Krisam purchased it in 2017 for $2.93 million.

At least part of the new ownership group also has investments in two other Rochester hotels — the north Microtel Inn and the south Comfort Suites. The Red Wing Lodging Group owns the Rodeway Inn in Red Wing.

Birju Patel, the general manager of Rochester's north Microtel, is now managing the Quality Inn.

This sale was about $500,000 more than the property went for in 2017. Olmsted County estimated its market value at $2.88 million for 2018-2019. That was an increase from 2017-2018, when the county pegged the value at $2.71 million.
