Helen J. Richter -- Goodhue

GOODHUE -- The funeral for Helen J. Richter will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue, with the Rev. David Jarvis Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Goodhue.

Mrs. Richter, 75, of Goodhue, died of natural causes Monday (Dec. 9, 2002) at her home.

Helen Janet Wenzel was born May 4, 1927, in Trimbelle Township, Pierce County, Wis., grew up on a farm, attended school in Ellsworth, Wis., and graduated from Ellsworth High School. On Oct. 18, 1945, she married Kenneth Arthur Willis Richter in Ellsworth. They farmed in the Red Wing area until 1953 and then in rural Goodhue until their retirement in 1983. After her husband's death on Nov. 28, 1992, Mrs. Richter moved to Goodhue. She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, was active in WELCA and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne (Bill) Roper of Goodhue; two sons, Robert (Gloria) of Goodhue and Jim (Kersten) of Veseli, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother and a sister preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
