HERMANTOWN, Minn. -- Having a smoke in the parks of this northeastern Minnesota town will soon be illegal. The city council voted this week to prohibit tobacco use at city parks.
Two students from Hermantown Senior High School spoke in favor of the resolution. One student displayed a large plastic bag filled with used cigarette butts that had been collected at one park in 30 minutes.
The American Lung Association and Tobacco-free Youth Association will donate signs to the city advertising the new resolution.
