Boys basketball

• Triton landed four players in double-figures as it held off Kenyon-Wanamingo 66-53 in the quarterfinals of the Section 2AA West playoffs. Coleton Thiemann and Chace Sackett both had 17 points.

• Cole Olstad had 25 points in Plainview-Elgin-Millville’s easy 74-35 win over St. Charles in the quarterfinals of the Section 1AA East playoffs.

• Byron had four players in double-figures in its 65-53 Section 1AA East quarterfinals win over Southland. Brandon Milde led the way with 17 points.

• Winona Cotter’s Patrick Bowlin had 26 points and Andy Wolfe 19 in a surprisingly difficult 73-65 win over Lewiston-Altura in the Section 1AA East quarterfinals. The Cardinals got 28 points from Michael Burfeind.


• Austin Gilles scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as No. 7 seed Lake City upset No. 2 seed Lourdes 49-35 in the Section 1AA West quarterfinals. The Tigers shot 50 percent for the game.

• Josh Hagan scored 40 points for Kingsland as it ran past Cannon Falls 77-66 in the quarterfinals of the Section 1AA West playoffs. Mike Banitt had 26 points for the Bombers and Isaac Peterson 24.

• Tanner Kramer hit four free throws in overtime and Derek Peterson had six of his 20 points in OT as Hayfield upset Blooming Prairie in the Section 2AA East quarterfinals. Peterson also had 10 rebounds. Matt Zellmer had 28 points for Blooming Prairie, including seven 3-pointers. Pat Rumpza added 18 points and 12 rebounds.
