The Rochester Honkers have hired University of North Florida graduate assistant baseball coach Carlos Rodriguez as coach for the 2005 Northwoods League season.
Rodriguez joins fellow North Florida Ospreys assistant and new Rochester Field Manager Greg Labbe on the Honkers' staff. Rodriguez has been a student assistant coach for the past two seasons at North Florida, after concluding his playing career with the Ospreys in 2002.
; "Carlos is able to relate to players on a level that I have seen very few people reach," says Labbe. "He has a knack for coaching each player according to their own personalities, and I feel that is what makes him special."
"Carols and Greg Labbe work very well together already and that strength will show on the field for us next summer," adds Honkers co-owner and general manager Dan Litzinger.
