MANKATO -- Owen Hoegh pitched eight strong innings for his third straight victory and paced the Rocheste Honkers to a fourth straight win Friday night.
Rochester defeated the Mankato MoonDogs 6-2 in front of a crowd of 566 at Franklin Rogers Park.
Hoegh, a Byron native, had 10 strikeouts and allowed five hits and no earned runs in eight innings. The 6-foot-4 left-hander from Augustana improved to 3-2 and lowered his ERA below 3.00.
Hoegh allowed two unearned runs in the second inning, on his own throwing error. He retired 15 of 16 batters between the third and seventh innings.

Rochester improved to 5-2 in the second half South Division standings. Mankato is 4-2 in the North Division.
The Honkers took a 1-0 lead in the first on a RBI single by Chris Nowak (S.C.-Spartanburg), scoring lead-off hitter Jesse Boyer (Nebraska).
Rochester added two runs in the second, on a double by Mike Miller (Cal State-L.A.) and RBI single by Derek Schermerhorn (Wichita State), and an unearned run a dropped fly ball.
Ron Bethke (Austin Peay) hit a two-run double in the eighth inning to cap Rochester's scoring.
Miller was 3-for-4 with two runs scored for Rochester. Boyer, Nowak and Schermerhorn had two hits each.
Rochester continues the two-game series at Mankato tonight at 7:05. The Honkers come home to Mayo Field on Sunday and Monday against the South Division-leading Wisconsin Woodchucks. Sunday's game is at 3:05, and Monday is a 1:05 start.
