Houston 10-runs Athletics

Post-Bulletin staff

The Lyle/Austin Pacelli softball team was beaten by the 10-run rule for the second straight game on Tuesday against Houston.

The visiting Hurricanes of Houston blew away the Lyle/Pacelli Athletics with 11 runs in the top of the first inning. The home team never recovered in a 15-2 loss in five innings.

Houston coach Arlin "Pete" Peterson runs a tight ship and his players know how to take advantage of the other team’s mistakes. The Athletics committed eight errors on the day and the Hurricanes ran wild.

"We struggled and got down 11-0 right away, so it was tough to come back," L/P coach Denny Bray said. "We didn’t come out ready to play, and old Pete really took it to us. We’re very inexperienced in the field and the girls made a lot of errors. We have to get over this loss and focus on the busy week ahead."
