MINNEAPOLIS — Senior Kevin Lindh had 18 carries for 91 yards and sophomore Chris Stackhouse had 10 catches for 79 yards as the Houston Hurricanes beat Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 22-16 in the 9-man state football championship today.

It was the first state title for the Hurricanes, capping an undefeated season.

Houston led 14-0 after three quarters, but Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley came up with 16 points.

Trailing 16-14, Houston’s Lindh ran in a touchdown from a yard out, and a successful two-point conversion put Houston ahead, 22-16.

Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley started another drive, highlighted by a 37-yard pass to junior Levi Lupkes. But an intentional grounding on second down stifled the drive.

Houston scored its first touchdown on a 24-yard screen pass to Trent Kerrigan.

Houston outgained the Wolverines 203-80 in the first half, but missed three fourth down conversions, two of which came at the goal line.
