The former director of Austin Area Catholic Schools has been placed on paid administrative leave from his current position at Harmony Community Schools in Farmington, Iowa.
Joseph Hundeby, who has worked for the district since August, was placed on administrative leave Nov. 3 during a special meeting conducted by the Harmony School Board. He also serves as principal of Harmony’s high school and middle school, according to the district Web site.
According to a report in the Hawk Eye newspaper in Burlington, Iowa, the Harmony school board voted unanimously to place Hundeby on leave during an investigation. The nature of the investigation is not known.

The district is searching for an interim superintendent to fill in during the investigation period, the newspaper reported.
Hundeby was the director and principal of Austin Catholic Schools for part of the 2006-2007 school year, but left because of a personnel issue. He was replaced by current director Mary Holtorf.
Hundeby could not be reached for comment.
