Bombers win first game
CANNON FALLS — All the scoring occurred in the first quarter, and the difference was an extra point. A light rain fell during the entire game, and Cannon Falls won for the first time in the regular-season finale.
Hayfield (3-5) scored on its first drive, going 27 yards after recovering a fumble. Darin Wagner scored on a 15-yard run, but the try for two failed.
Cannon Falls (1-7) answered on its next drive. Wade Gobin scored on a 57-yard run. Josh Neperud then kicked what proved to be the winning extra point.

Hayfield finished with 197 yards, 134 on the ground. Wagner had 79 yards on 21 carries. Cody Hendrickson was 6-for-13 passing with 62 yards, but threw two interceptions in the fourth quarter.
Cannon Falls had 156 yards, 130 on the ground. Gobin rushed 27 times for 129 yards.
Hayfield finished with four turnovers and Cannon Falls had three.
The Bombers play at top-seeded Rochester Lourdes on Tuesday in the first round of the Section One, Class AAA playoffs.
