Annual fire hydrant maintenance will be ongoing during the next two weeks in southwest Austin.
The fire department will be flushing out the system in that area of the city.
Fire Chief Dan Wilson said because flushing stirs up sediment in water drains, residents who are using the faucets during the flushing process may notice rust-colored water.
If that happens, Wilson recommends turning off the water for at least an hour.
