Armstrong's struggle to overcome cancer is an inspiring story and there's no question he's the best at what he does. Armstrong the athlete is one thing, but Armstrong the marketing machine is vastly overexposed.
Maybe that's why I've been hoping the Tour de France would get over the day after it began. Maybe I should blame ESPN -- the self-important network that lately is taking itself way to seriously.
Only recently, ESPN held a mock trial on whether or not Pete Rose should be allowed in the baseball Hall of Fame. The "jury'' voted 8-4 for his admittance, and ESPN talking heads claimed it'll help Rose gain entrance. I don't care if Rose goes into the hall, as long as he just goes away.
Sorry Lance, you're a great guy and a grerat champion but it's also time for you to leave the stage.
