COTTER, Iowa -- Four train cars carrying chicken feed derailed in eastern Iowa, officials said.
The Iowa, Chicago &; Eastern train jumped the tracks near Cotter about 11 a.m. Sunday, officials with the Louisa County sheriff's office said.
Deputy Adam Caudle said Alliant Energy crews had turned off power in the area to allow crews to begin the cleanup, which was expected to take 48 hours.
The train originated in Mason City and was bound for Kansas City, trainmaster Phil Stick said.
