Ikes to consider global warming’s impact

Post-Bulletin, Rochester MN

Global warming in Minnesota will be the featured topic Monday night at an Austin Izaak Walton League meeting.

Open to the public, the meeting is slated for 7 p.m. at the Izaak Walton Cabin in Austin’s Todd Park.

Nancy Lange, the Izaak Walton League’s Clean Air Program coordinator, plans to give a presentation titled "Global Warming in Minnesota, the Impacts on Hunting and Fishing."

In the United States, hunters and anglers increasingly are concerned about the effects of a changing climate, according to an Izaak Walton League news release.

The league recently was commissioned by the nonprofit Wildlife Management Institute to investigate the projected effects of climate change for hunters and fishers in five states: Colorado, Maryland, Minnesota, New York and South Dakota. Research revealed that the threats are widespread.
