Mark Kuisle was named Rochester's interim athletics director this morning.
Maintaining continuity and having experience in the Rochester Public School system were key components in the decision, Superintendent Jerry Williams said.
Kuisle replaces Gary Addington, who served as the athletics director since 1987 and leaves his post at the end of this month.

Kuisle will be the AD for the rest of the school year. A final decision on making the post a permanent position will be made sometime in February, Williams said.
Kuisle has been the Century High athletics site coordinator since the school opened in 1997. He has worked in the district as a teacher, coach and site coordinator for 13 years.
"He knows the community, he knows the staff," Williams said. "He knows the performance culture of the AD that's existed a great number of years in the Rochester Public School system."
Kuisle's position at Century will remain open.
"That's going to be a kind of make-due situation," Williams said. "Other people will share and pick up the workload, on a tentative basis."
Kuisle said he, like Addington, will occupy offices in all three high schools -- Century, Mayo and John Marshall.
"Does it make it a clean-cut removal of me from the position? No," Kuisle said. "I'll help out, but I'll travel to all three buildings."
The interim label doesn't appear to be much of a concern for Kuisle.

"In my discussions with Mr. Williams, he reassures me that this (AD) position is very important to the district," Kuisle said.
