Ione Schuster -- Kenyon

KENYON -- The funeral for Ione Schuster will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Kenyon, with the Rev. Dana Houck officiating. Burial will be in Kenyon Cemetery.

Mrs. Schuster, 90, of Kenyon, a homemaker, died Monday (Dec. 30, 2002) at Kenyon Sunset Home.

Ione Elaine Benson was born Aug. 24, 1912, near Mantorville in Dodge County, grew up in the area and graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1929. She completed a year of normal teachers' training and then taught in Dodge County rural schools from 1931 to 1935. On March 12, 1935, she married Lyle E. Schuster at her parents' home in Mantorville. They farmed near Dodge Center until 1943 and then south of Kenyon. Her husband died in 1991 and she continued to live on the farm until entering the care center in December 1997. She worked at Foldcraft for a few years. Mrs. Schuster was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active in circle and ladies groups. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and vacationing in state parks.

Survivors include a son, Lance (Julie) of Kenyon; four grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Wellman of Mount Lake Terrace, Wash., and Claire Gillam of Austin. She was preceded in death by a son, two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hanson Funeral Home in Kenyon and an hour before the service Friday at the church.
