Irene Krier — Zumbrota

ZUMBROTA — The Mass of Christian Burial for Irene Krier will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Zumbrota, with the Rev. Robert G. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Mazeppa.

Mrs. Krier, 85, of Zumbrota, died Tuesday (April 22, 2008) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Irene Anna Marie Befort was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Red Wing. She grew up on the family farm in rural Mazeppa and attended country school. On June 2, 1943, she married Norbert Krier in Mazeppa. The couple made their home in Zumbrota. Mrs. Krier worked cleaning homes and businesses for many years, and her husband was a truck driver. Mr. Krier died May 27, 1980. In 1997 she moved to the Zumbrota Towers, then entered the Zumbrota Nursing Home in 2004. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and playing Bingo.

She is survived by a son, Keith (Dianne) of Wanamingo; and a brother, Sylvester "Sunny" (Josephine) Befort of Zumbrota. Other survivors include three granddaughters, Dawn (Van) Larson of Rochester, Cindy (Steve) Rotert of St. James, Minn., and Michelle (Paul) Lidtke of Zumbrota; four great-grandchildren, Bradley, Taylor and MaKenna Rotert, and Hunter Larson; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Chelsey Lidtke and Nick Larson. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Kathryn (Frank) Befort.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, and an hour before the service Friday at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
