It may have gone unnoticed to local fans so far, but former RCTC football player Rhys Lloyd is the kicker at the University of Minnesota. Lloyd, a junior, was 5-for-5 on extra points in the Gophers' season-opening win against Tulsa.

Lloyd, at 200-plus pounds, has a cannon for a leg. He was born in England and has a strong soccer background. He boomed kickoffs, extra points and field goals and even punted for RCTC the past two seasons.

Lloyd has the ability to kick a football 60 yards. Don't be surprised if he gets some long attempts during his career with the Gophers. If he can improve his accuracy, he might even kick in the NFL one day.
