FERGUS FALLS, Minn. -- It's a three-peat for Minnesota's state spelling bee champ.
Grant Remmen, 13, successfully defended his title at the State Multi-Regional Spelling Bee held this week in Fergus Falls.
Grant won first place after correctly spelling "punctilio" (pronounced punk-TILL'-ee-oh), meaning a point of behavior that one is meticulous and adamant about.
Grant also won the 2002 and 2003 state spelling bee titles. Remmen, Detroit Lakes, will compete in the 77th annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., the week of May 30.
The Daily Journal of Fergus Falls sponsored the State Multi-Regional Spelling Bee and is Grant's sponsor for the National Spelling Bee.
