KASSON -- A memorial service for Ivan E. Thayer will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Kasson, with the Rev. Karen Seavey officiating.
Mr. Thayer, 73, of Kasson, a retired Moorman Feeds hauler, died Friday (March 14, 2003) at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center where he had been a patient about three months.
He was born July 25, 1929, in Spring Valley and grew up in the Plainview area. On Nov. 13, 1949, he married Virginia R. Stettler in Plainview. They had lived in Kasson since 1962. He was a member of the Kasson United Methodist, a 50-year member of the local construction union of Rochester, a 25-year member of the Rochester Eagles, and a member of the Byron Snow Bears. He enjoyed dancing, camping, snowmobiling, carpentry and hunting.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Don (Pat) of Canon City, Colo., and Rick (Annie) of Kasson; a daughter, Rita Tlougan of St. Peter, Minn.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marion Harris of Kasson. He was preceded in death by a grandchild, a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at the church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and an hour before the service Tuesday. There will be no reviewal.
