ROCHESTER — The memorial service for Jacquelyn K. Darbo will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, with Rev. Karna Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Darbo, 70, of Rochester, died Wednesday (April 1, 2009) at Charter House in the Hospice Wing, after a courageous fight with cancer.
Jacquelyn Kay Hovey was born Dec. 4, 1938, in Spring Valley, to Gib and Marian Hovey. She graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1956 and worked at Mayo Clinic for 26 years. On June 19, 1960, she married Don Darbo at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for 45 years, and was an active member of the church. She enjoyed sporting events, gardening, going for walks, trips, and most of all her grandchildren, and was the best wife, mom, aunt, grandma and friend one could have.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Greg of Rochester; a daughter, Stephanie (Chris) Gartner of Rochester; eight grandchildren; a sister, Gerrie (Dick) Webster of Spring Valley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother and an infant daughter.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Home, and an hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
