ROCHESTER -- The funeral for James A. "Jim" Urness will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Linda Helberg officiating. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery in Kenyon.
Mr. Urness, 63, of Rochester, died Tuesday (Sept. 5, 2006) at the Red Wing Health Center, of complications from diabetes.
Born July 19, 1943, in Kenyon, he graduated from Kenyon High School in 1961. He was a barber for 36 years, retiring in 1999. In 1970, he married Susan Witt. They later divorced. A longtime resident of Rochester, he had resided at the Red Wing Health Center for the past two years.
Survivors include a daughter, Deb (Chris) Johnson of Rochester; three brothers, Arlan (Marjean) of Clarion, Iowa, Merton (Pat) of Green Valley, Ariz., and Dennis (Linda) of Kenyon; and a sister, Ann (Harley) Rokenbrodt of Muskego, Wis. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a granddaughter.
Friends may call an hour before the service at the church.
