AUSTIN -- The funeral for Jennie Melvina Myers will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Lutheran Home Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Greg Mannel officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
Mrs. Myers, 98, of Austin, a homemaker and former teacher, died Aug. 21, 2002, at Austin Medical Center
Jennie Melvina Anderson was born Dec. 31, 1903, in Albert Lea. After graduating from Austin High School and normal school, she taught in a Grand Meadow-area country school. On Nov. 25, 1928, she married Harry W. Myers in St. Paul. Her husband owned a bicycle and radio business in Austin for 50 years. He died June 18, 1974. Mrs. Myers was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was active in church women's groups. She enjoyed growing flowers and plants, reading and handwork.
Survivors include a daughter, Louise (Floyd) Martell of Austin; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Saturday at the chapel.
