JM grad White powers Yellowjackets

Mike White had a big day at the plate as host Rochester Community and Technical College swept a doubleheader from Dakota County in junior college baseball Wednesday.

White was 5-for-7 with three home runs, a double, four runs scored and seven RBIs, as the Yellowjackets posted 8-3 and 12-2 wins. His second homer of the game in the nightcap ended the contested by the 10-run rule in the sixth inning.

"He's been hitting the ball real well as of late, and he was really swinging the bat today," RCTC coach Steve Hucke said.

White was 3-for-4 with a home run, double and four RBIs in the opener. Tom Corcoran, like White a John Marshall grad, was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Justin Schaible was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored.

White was 2-for-3 with two homers and three RBIs in the second game. Jeff Roemer was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Roemer also pitched a four-hitter the victory. He struck out eight.

"It was one of those days where once we got the bats going, things took care of themselves," Hucke said. "And we played good defense and got good pitching."

The Yellowjackets (14-12, 5-3 MCCC Southern Division) have two more home doubleheaders this weekend. They play host to Minnesota West on Friday and division leader Ridgewater on Saturday. Games begin at 1 p.m. both days.
