GOODHUE — Funeral services for John Alvin Reese will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue, with the Rev. Andy Krause officiating. Burial will be at noon Monday in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at Assembly Area Five.
Mr. Reese, 74, of Goodhue, died Tuesday (April 1, 2008) at his residence.
John Alvin Reese was born on Nov. 28, 1933, in Red Wing. He attended school at St. John’s Parochial School and Martin Luther High School in New Ulm, and graduated from Goodhue High School. He worked on area farms before entering the Army. He worked for the Nike Guided Missile Defense Unit in New Jersey and was honorably discharged. He returned to Goodhue and was employed by Northwest Airlines as a computer programmer analyst for 31 years. He retired in 1989. He married Donna Kopesky on Feb. 10, 1979, in Burnsville. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing cards and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; five brothers, Arthur Jr., Donald (Lila), and Laverne, all of Goodhue, Harlin of Oradell, N.J., and Hilbert (Bernie) of Northfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
