The Rochester John Marshall boys soccer team was fit to be tied on Saturday -- again.
JM played to its sixth tie of the season, a 1-1 overtime draw at Apple Valley. The Rockets have a record of 7-0-6 and 6-0-4 in the Big Nine Conference.
"That's quite a few ties, probably the most in my coaching career," said JM coach Tony Birch. "This was a good tie, especially against a quality team like Apple Valley, which was ranked No. 7 in Class AA."
Birch said JM's defense played a solid game, although he said Apple Valley had a certain edge in shots on goal. JM senior goalkeeper Pascaul Venter allowed only one goal, on a penalty kick just 90 seconds before halftime.
JM opened the scoring 35 minutes into the first half when senior Pete Grande made a steal and quickly converted. The goal was unassisted.

Lourdes blasts Pine Island: Rochester Lourdes poured it on Saturday in a 17-1 win over Pine Island in a Hiawatha Valley League game at Pine Island.
Tyler Kodet and Bernardo Perez scored four goals each for Lourdes, Nic Rieder scored three, and Bayode Adafin and Alex Camilleri added two goals apiece. Brandon Bahnemann and Henry Macken also scored goals.
Lourdes improved to 11-1-2 overall. The Eagles will get a challenge at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Withers Field against Big Nine Conference leader Mankato West.
Eagan blanks Century: Rochester Century was on the short end of a 3-0 score on Saturday at Eagan. Eagan, a top-10 ranked team in Class AA, was coming off three straight defeats.
"They're a very good team, very solid in the midfield especially," said Century coach Brent Johnson. "One of their players in particular, John Baumgartner, kind of dictated play."
Eagan had a 16-9 edge in shots on goal, and Tom Erickson was in goal for Century.
Century is 9-2-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the Big Nine Conference. The Panthers have three games this week, beginning Tuesday night at Owatonna.
